A resurfaced clip capturing the touching moment a depressed dog was reunited with her puppies has received an emotional response on social media.
The TikTok video shows a rescue dog named Cora reunited with her four puppies at the Marin Humane Society in Novato, California.
The emotional reunion was captured in a clip posted by @dogrescue106, racking up more than 215,000 likes and hundreds of comments in a matter of hours.
Footage shows the mum’s ecastic reaction after a worker at the shelter holds out her puppies to her in a bid to cheer her up.
The emotional reunion appears to date back to 2016 when it made headlines on ABC News and other major news titles.
A message on the TikTok post explained: “A dog named Cora was surrendered to a shelter after having puppies. She was depressed and wouldn’t move away from the corner, so the shelter tracked down her puppies and reunited the family.”
The dog had reportedly undergone a medical examination after arriving at the shelter, at which point vets realised she had given birth to a litter of puppies.
Seeing as the mother was visibly depressed since her arrival at the centre, the workers decided to reach out to her previous owners.
They eventually persuaded them to surrender Cora’s four puppies to the shelter as well, arguing that both the babies and their mother would benefit from the reunion.
Lisa Block, from the Marin Humane Society, said: “We told them that it was best for the dogs to be nursed by their mother.”
Viewers were blown away by the mother’s instinct as her litter was brought into the room, and many extended their support to the shelter in the comments of the clip.
“The way she just lit up when she came around the corner,” wrote one viewer in the comment. “This warms my heart so much.”
Another viewer directed thanks to the Good Samaritans who went to the length of tracking down the dog’s babies, writing: “Thank you so much for caring so much!!!”
