Deputies are investigating after two men were shot in different locations less than an hour apart in Vista Saturday night.
The first shooting happened about 8:35 on South Santa Fe Avenue near Eucalyptus Avenue by downtown Vista, sheriff’s Lt. Patrick Fox said. The victim was shot in the stomach, and the suspect ran off.
The second shooting happened about 9:05 p.m. in the area of Mimosa Avenue and Smilax Road, an intersection near a state Route 78 overpass. Smilax Road is a border between Vista and San Marcos.
Fox said the victim was shot in the chest.
Both victims were taken to hospitals. No information was immediately available regarding the suspects in either shooting or the condition of either victim. It was also not clear what preceded either incident.
