NORTH COUNTY —
A driver who was killed after his SUV collided with a sedan in a North County intersection has been identified as a Fallbrook resident.
Thomas Carl Asper, 86, was driving south on Old Highway 395 near the Interstate 15 off-ramp about 7:45 a.m. on Jan. 31 when his Toyota Venza was struck by a Jaguar XF exiting the freeway, according to the county Medical Examiner’s Office.
The crash caused Asper’s car to overturn, and he was ejected, officials said.
Asper was taken to a hospital, where he died.
The Jaguar driver — an 18-year-old woman — was not injured.
Drugs and alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash, said California Highway Patrol Officer Hunter Gerber.
