EDF is enticing customers with a festive offer of £200 cashback for anyone who signs up to its Pod Point Plug & Power tariff before December 26, equivalent to over a year of free driving.
The Pod Point Plug & Power is an electric vehicle (EV) home charger and tariff bundle that allows drivers to purchase a charger at a reduced upfront cost, making the transition to electric driving more affordable.
Both new and existing customers can sign up to the tariff to receive a £200 bill credit, which equates to 8,244 free energy miles, providing the average motorist with a year’s worth of free driving.
The industry-first Pod Point Plug & Power bundle enables drivers to purchase a Pod Point Solo 3S charger for an upfront cost of just £499 (RRP £1,099), with the remaining cost of the charger spread over two years and integrated into the tariff.
This offers drivers a more cost-effective method to acquire a convenient and reliable home charger for their EV. Priced at £2,139, the tariff is backed by zero carbon electricity and offers cheaper off-peak electricity at 8.49p per kWh from 12am to 5am for both the customer’s home and car, allowing them to save while they sleep.
Rich Hughes, Director of Retail at EDF, said: “The Pod Point Plug & Power tariff already offers drivers lower upfront costs on purchasing a charger, by letting them spread the rest of the cost throughout their two-year tariff.
“This deal gives customers even lower upfront costs by putting £200 back in their pocket when they sign-up! We’re really pleased to offer drivers yet another great deal to help them save cash, and encourage more to make the switch to electric driving to reduce their carbon footprint.”
EDF has joined forces with EV charging solution provider Pod Point to introduce the offer. Pod Point has become the first charging company to install more than 250,000 chargers throughout the UK.
VP of Sales Rob McGinn said “We’re always looking for ways to make the EV transition as easy and affordable as possible for drivers, and so we’re delighted that our partners EDF are providing an extra incentive on the Pod Point Plug & Power bundle, which provides seamless home EV charging through our award-winning Solo 3S.”
Customers keen to take up the offer can sign up via EDF’s website. Once registered, EDF will pass on the customer’s details to Pod Point for the purchase of the Solo 3S EV charger, which starts at £499.
The charger comes with a five-year warranty and standard installation, and bosses say it can be easily managed from the user’s phone via the Pod Point app. To qualify, customers must have a smart meter and be opted into half-hourly meter readings.
After buying their charger and arranging an installation date, EDF will credit £200 to their account within 30 days. For more information or to sign up, click here.
