Elvis Presley had dates and flings with actresses all over America in the 1960s and 1970s when his career was its peak.
On one occasion, in 1968, he went to Las Vegas to hang out and party, and eventually walked into a bar where a young, up-and-coming actress was working. At the time the young woman was known as Cassandra Peterson, an aspiring star who had moved to Las Vegas after watching the King’s movie Viva Las Vegas. But people around the world would eventually come to know her as Elvira, Mistress of the Dark.
After Elvis and the 17-year-old Elvira hit it off, he encouraged her to join him in his hotel – and then things got serious.
“He invited me to a party at his suite,” Elvira recalled to Closer. “Along with lots of other people, and he really kind of took to me, I think because I was 17, and probably all the other showgirls there were in their 30s.”
Elvis was famously obsessed with young girls. He first met Priscilla Presley and started a relationship with her when she was just 14-years-old. Despite this fact, the 17-year-old Elvira spent the night with the singer and what happened might be extremely surprising to fans of the King.

“I loved Elvis,” Elvira said. “I had grown up with Elvis being one of my idols. My parents were giant Elvis fans. The fact that I was meeting him was beyond belief.”
Going into details about their night together, she recalled: “We did hang out one whole evening, a whole night, the next morning.”
What did they do, though? “Mostly talked, believe it or not,” she confessed – well, almost. Elvira did divulge some other passionate activities they got up to.
“There was some kissing going on,” she admitted. “But Elvis was watched very closely since they [his entourage] were aware that I was [very young].”
Despite the fact they were getting hot and heavy in his suite, Elvira confirmed he was nothing but a gentleman.
She said: “He couldn’t have been more wonderful and I really do credit him with changing my life. I, at the time, thought I had reached the pinnacle of show business, becoming a Las Vegas showgirl. Elvis convinced me that this was no town for a young girl to be in, by herself, and that it would not lead to bigger and better things.”
She went on to say Elvis gave her the “best advice in the world”, before adding that he told her to pursue a singing career and get out of Las Vegas.
Elvis’ advice was right. Shortly thereafter, Cassandra Peterson transformed into Elvira, Mistress of the Dark and built a fruitful career on being spooky and sexy.
She even got her own feature film – Elvira, Mistress of the Dark – which hit cinemas in 1988.
She has since continued to play her gothic goddess in cameos and TV shows even in recent years, at 71-years-old.
