EAST COUNTY —
A fast-moving brush fire that broke out early Thanksgiving afternoon threatened structures in Jamul and prompted evacuation orders nearby.
The blaze ignited around 1:50 p.m. near State Route 94 and Vista Sage Lane, Cal Fire officials said.
By 2:45 p.m., the fire had reached 30-35 acres with no containment.
Evacuations were ordered around 2:35 p.m. for the neighborhoods in the area surrounding Lyons Valley Road, according to San Diego County’s Office of Emergency Services.
An evacuation point was set up at Steele Canyon High School on Campo Road east of State Route 54.
