A fiery, fatal crash prompted the closure of west state Route 94 at Interstate 805 after a vehicle fell from a nearby transition ramp and crash landed into freeway lanes Saturday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol’s website.
The collision was reported shortly after 8:50 a.m.
According to a CHP log of the incident, a vehicle was driving from east Route 94 to north Route 15 when it fell from the transition and into westbound lanes on Route 94.
A signage pole was struck during the incident, and nearby motorists reported the vehicle involved burst into flames, the log said.
All of west Route 94 at I-805 and the north I-805 transition to west 94 was closed while officers investigated the crash.
