SAN DIEGO —
A 17-year-old girl was shot in the back as she left a party early Saturday morning, San Diego police said.
The shooting happened about 12:50 a.m. on El Cajon Boulevard at Winona Avenue, in the Talmadge neighborhood, Officer David O’Brien said.
He said two groups of people on Winona got into a fight. Someone pulled out a gun and opened fire, shooting several times.
The teenage girl was struck in her back. The people who had been fighting ran off.
The victim was taken to a hospital to be treated. Her wound was not considered life-threatening, O’Brien said.
Detectives with the gang unit are investigating.
