All kinds of hair need washing, but making different styles look their best requires specific care.
Whether it is curly, straight, short, thin, or coarse, there’s a routine to nourish every hair type, and how often you wash it is at the heart of each one.
But determining that specific formula is something that can be incredibly hard to do without professional advice.
Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Cheryl Marks, three-time, Emmy Nominated Hollywood hairstylist said: “How often you should wash your hair is a commonly asked question, and it depends on your hair type and texture.
“Is your scalp oily, do you work out often? This all depends on each person individually, and there is not a one-size-fits-all answer.”
She continued: “I usually recommend washing your hair every other day so there are some natural oils that will build up, which is great for a healthy scalp.”
That said, it’s important to consider how other factors play into the effects washing has on your locks.
One of the main ones is age, which Cheryl explained has a significant impact on the texture more than anything.
She said: “As we get older our hair texture changes, it can become drier so washing your hair every day is not advised. Let some of your natural oils build up.”
One thing that is universally useful for hair types, however, is a good shampoo and conditioner.
Cheryl suggested using HASK’s Argan Oil Repairing Shampoo and Conditioner, which she claimed is ideal for daily washing.
The formula works to restore the look of hair while softening, detangling and simultaneously protecting against damage and breakage.
To maintain enviable hair, the Hollywood stylist said: “Develop a quick and easy regimen, that you can follow no matter how much time you have and use products with good ingredients.
“The health of your hair is always the number one thing to focus on, and it’s not something that you need to spend a lot of money on either.
“Products from HASK are budget-friendly but have quality ingredients that will have your hair health at the forefront.”
