
San Diego homicide detectives are investigating after two bodies were pulled out of a channel in the Tijuana River Valley near the U.S.-Mexico border Thursday, authorities said.
Police were notified after a body was spotted by Border Patrol agents near Dairy Mart Road and Clearwater Way shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, said police Officer David O’Brien.
Lifeguards searched, assisted by a helicopter and several personnel, but were unable to find anyone, said Mónica Muñoz, spokesperson for the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
Searching resumed early Thursday, and two bodies were found in the channel near Dairy Mart Road shortly before 9:30 a.m., officials said.
No other information was immediately available.
