Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have caused a fan frenzy over the years with their various adorable outfits at royal events.
The children of the Prince and Princess of Wales are seen to have inherited their mother, Princess Kate’s effect when it comes to fashion, as most of the pieces they wear sell out within days if not hours.
Now, one of the designers the royal children frequently favour has lifted the lid on what it’s like to create outfits worn by them.
Children’s clothing designer Rachel Riley has seen many of her designs on the Wales children and described it as an “honour”.
She told the Express: “I set up my business over 25 years ago when my own kids were small, and I made beautiful things for them.
“Back then, I could never have imagined in my wildest dreams that one day, the royals would be wearing my outfits. It really is an honour.
“While it’s always fun to dress all children, it is particularly rewarding as a designer and business owner when the royal children wear our clothing.
“Not only do they look great, they also seem very comfortable wearing them, which is what all children should feel like when wearing our clothes.”
The brand, which recently saw a 77% Black Friday sales growth due to its new marketing strategy with Omnisend, has had various of its designs sold out within minutes after George, Charlotte, and Louis wore them.
Notably, Princess Charlotte’s button-down dress, which she has worn in various variations for various events, almost always sells out as soon as it comes back in stock.
Ms Riley revealed that the most striking detail she has noticed over the years of the royal children wearing her designs is that each piece reflects a “stage [in life] they go through”.
She explained: “The clothing that we design is relevant to each stage that children go through.
“Personally, it is always fun for me to see children in babysuits when they are babies, dungarees when they are crawling and then a shirt and shorts set or a cute dress when they are walking.
“This reflects a lot of the styles the Royal children have worn when they were babies and toddlers.
“Our signature styles to look out for, which have often been worn by the royal children include our hand-smocked pieces, such as our Sailboat Smocked Dungarees and our Smocked Shirt and Short set that Prince George wore at Princess Charlotte’s Christening.
“Our best-selling Button-Front dresses are a particular favourite of Princess Charlotte’s as she has worn them in different fabrics on several different occasions.”
She added: “I had a lot of fun seeing my own children grow up; the great joy of childhood is that it is ever-evolving – you can’t keep children small forever!”
The designer claimed that the brand’s classic and traditional styles have drawn interest from the royals and customers worldwide.
She said: “On the 22 occasions that Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have attended public events wearing Rachel Riley outfits, this has always prompted a massive spike in sales, and these items are quick to sell out.
“Our business has always embraced classic and traditional styling, creating heirloom pieces which can be treasured and passed down from generation to generation. I think that is part of our appeal.
“Being able to purchase an item worn by a member of the Royal family for one’s own child must feel like being part of history in some small way.”
