A 51-year-old woman is making waves on the internet by promoting age-positivity in a black-and-sequin dress.
Janya Barros uploaded a video of herself onto TikTok in pink pyjamas looking shy, before she turns around and the video cuts to her transformed, wearing a sleek dress.
The black cutout features see-through sequins along the front of the chest to the left leg.
Janya can then be seen posing confidently with her hands on her hips, with hair and makeup done.
She captioned the video: “Middle age feels and looks good on us! Be proud.”

Janya added that she loved her new dress and was embracing her age, with commenters agreeing she looks great.
One popular comment said Janya looked “breathtaking” while another described her as “stunning.”
A third said: “Excuse me while I forklift my jaw off the ground!”
Janya replied to her admirers, writing: “Talk about women empowering other women! You guys rock!”
She also revealed how she made the video after buying the dress but second-guessing herself as she worried she may have been “too old” for such a glamorous look.
Janya said another influencer’s video made her change her mind and decide to encourage other women to embrace their beauty at any age.
Janya was inspired by fashion expert Ting Ma, who recently went viral online with nearly five million views after she said it was time to fight against “society’s outdated stereotypes of women over 50”.
In her video, Ting dresses in loungewear wearing glasses with her hair down, before stamping her feet down next to a high heel and transforming into her own glamorous look.
The 52-year-old changes to having her hair tried into a bun in a white crop top and light brown skirt with black high heels.
In the caption, Tiny wrote: “It’s time to redefine ageing on our own terms! Society’s outdated stereotype of women over 50 fails to reflect the diversity and vibrancy of modern women over 50.”
Both young and older women have been impressed by Ting’s video.
One user said: “You look absolutely incredible, I cannot believe you are in your 50s!”
Another person said: “I’m 36, and I’m just finding myself now. I don’t care if [people] don’t think I should be dressing a certain way.”
Somebody else wrote “YES! This is how I want to age” but another person said: “Videos like this make me excited to age.”
A woman wrote that she hopes she looks like Ting when she is in her fifties, to which Tiny replied: “Trust me, you will look 10 times [more] stunning than this
