It’s been 18 years since The Holiday hit cinemas and became a Christmas movie staple, alongside Love Actually and Elf.
Fans will know the film sees Kate Winslet’s Iris and Cameron Diaz’s Amanda switching their homes for the festive season.
The LA movie trailer company owner travels to the Daily Telegraph society columnist’s English countryside cottage and soon finds herself being charmed by Iris’ handsome brother Graham, played by Jude Law.
Now, the latter star has unveiled a devastating revelation about the movie that is ruining it for fans.
Appealing on The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show, Law was asked by fellow guest Kerry Godliman if you can Airbnb that perfect cosy cottage with its rustic aesthetic interiors. Tragically, the actor said, “That cottage doesn’t exist”, to which she replied: “What? That’s my dream home!”
Law explained: “Ooh yeah. So, the director [Nancy Meyers], she’s a bit of a perfectionist – toured that whole area and didn’t quite find the chocolate box cottage she was looking for. So she just hired a field and drew [what she wanted] and had someone build it. But here’s the funny thing, if you watch it, so, we were shooting it in the winter here and every time I’d go in that door, we cut, and we shot the interiors in LA, about three months later.”
Kerry replied: “Oh no, no! Please stop. That’s really upsetting.” To which host Zoe added: “We don’t want to hear any more! We can’t bear it!” Jude said with a smile: “Just burst the bubble. Sorry!”
The Holiday is streaming on Netflix, Prime Video and NOW Cinema.
