Kate, Princess of Wales, 41, met with Sarah Renton, the coach of the Maidenhead under-14s rugby team last week, where she was gifted a sentimental present.
The Princess of Wales is the patron of the English Rugby Football Union and Rugby Football League and has a huge passion for rugby.
In addition, Kate visited Maidenhead Rugby Club for an event linked to her Shaping Us initiative, which works to raise awareness of the importance of early childhood in shaping the adults we become.
Sarah Renton’s daughter, Issy Phipps, lost her life to suicide in April 2023. When Sarah met Kate last week, she gifted the Princess a special pair of gold star earrings made in Issy’s memory.
Issy’s cousin, Sophie McGown, runs the jewellery brand which made the earrings and is called EarSass.

The £25.50 earrings have the following description: “These beautiful 18k Gold plated star earrings are simply gorgeous and will put a smile on your face as soon as you put them on.
“The shiny gold is absolutely perfect for the summer, such a feel-good earring, just like our Issy was and is.
“These earrings are a tribute to Sophie’s beautiful cousin Issy Phipps who took her own life on the April 19, 2023, what an incredible beautiful soul she was and is now a beautiful star.
“Stars since ancient times are described as forever, hope, destiny, heaven, and freedom, don’t you just love this!”
When a pair of these earrings are sold, £5 is donated to Issy’s favourite charity Brave Mind.
This is a charity dedicated to helping rugby clubs and schools improve their approach to supporting mental health in their community.
Kate gratefully accepted the earrings and was photographed hugging Sarah. The Telegraph reported that the Princess was “visibly moved” by the interaction.
Sarah added: “The Princess said she would wear the earrings. She is very passionate about what she does. It was so great that she came down here today.”
For Kate’s visit last week, she wore the official England rugby gym training T-shirt in blue, which costs £45.
She teamed this with a pair of Sweaty Betty air taper 27-inch trousers in navy, which cost £85.
For footwear, Kate wore Lululemon Chargefeel low workout shoes, which looked very comfortable for playing rugby.
In addition, she opted to wear her Orela gold chain “Huggie” hoop earrings for the day, which cost £18.
