A man wielding a knife was reportedly shot during a confrontation with police in East Village early Monday night, a San Diego police officer said.
The shooting occurred after officers responded to a report of a man holding a knife and threatening suicide around 6:55 p.m. on E Street near Park Boulevard, Officer John Buttle said Monday.
The events leading up to the shooting and the man’s condition were not immediately known, Buttle said.
No officers were injured.
Photos and videos posted to social media showed more than a dozen law enforcement vehicles at the scene and the street cordoned off with police tape.
No other information was immediately available.
