A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism early Saturday morning after he allegedly rammed his truck into a gate at a sheriff’s substation in Ramona — less than four hours after being arrested on a different charge, a sheriff’s official said.
The man was one of three people in a group of six arrested at about 3 a.m. Saturday after deputies made contact with the group at the intersection of La Brea and North Ramona streets, sheriff’s Detective Thomas Sutton said in a statement.
The man was arrested on suspicion of carrying a concealed firearm and released from the Ramona substation with a notice to appear in court, while the other two were booked on felony firearm and drug-related charges.
At about 7:30 a.m., the man allegedly returned to the sheriff’s Ramona substation in a pickup and rammed the back gate, then fled the scene before deputies could respond, Sutton said.
Nearby residents who witnessed the collision identified the man as the driver, Sutton said, and deputies located the man’s damaged truck parked at his home in Ramona.
He was arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism and booked into jail.
