SANTEE —
A man in a wheelchair was injured when he was struck by a trash truck in Santee early Friday afternoon, a sheriff’s official said.
The incident happened just after 1:15 p.m. on Cuyamaca Street just north of state Route 52, Lt. Matthew Carpenter said.
The man appeared to have suffered a broken leg and was taken to a hospital, Carpenter said.
Deputies shut down a traffic lane on the southbound side of Cuyamaca Street for the investigation.
Details of how the collision occurred were not immediately available, but Carpenter said neither alcohol nor vehicle speed was a factor in it.
