A man who was fatally shot at a Mission Valley hotel earlier this week has been identified as a Los Angeles County resident who was on a work trip with the suspected killer, San Diego police said Thursday.
Damian Martinez, 19, of El Monte, was found dead in a hallway at the Handlery Hotel on Hotel Circle North about 8:30 p.m. Monday, according to homicide Lt. Lou Maggi.
A second victim, 23, was found outside the lobby of the hotel suffering from gunshot wounds. He was expected to survive.
Police got a description of the suspect getting into a dark-colored truck, and officers found the vehicle in the hotel parking lot with the suspect inside, Maggi said.
Kevin Casey Larin, 29, of Northridge, was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.
The three were co-workers in San Diego for work, Maggi said.
