
A 36-year-old man was killed early Saturday morning after the electric bicycle he was riding collided with a sedan in Clairemont Mesa.
The cyclist was traveling westbound in the bike lane at about 1:30 a.m. on Balboa Avenue in Clairemont Mesa East when, according to San Diego police, he veered into the path of the car and was hit.
The victim, whose name has not yet been released, was taken by ambulance to a hospital where he died.
Police said the car’s driver fled the scene after the cyclist was struck.
SDPD’s Traffic Division, which is handling the collision investigation, said it is searching for a light colored 2016-2022 Mercedes Benz E class sedan with front end damage and missing grill or front end body pieces.
