Martin Lewis’ MoneySavingExpert.com (MSE) has issued an urgent warning to all British Airways passengers with eVouchers.
According to MSE, more than €139 million (£117 million) in British Airways eVouchers are soon set to expire – so if you’ve got any to spend, time is of the essence.
During Covid-19, BA allowed passengers to cancel their bookings in exchange for a voucher to spend with the airline at a later date. Passengers whose flights were cancelled by BA during this period were also given this option.
If you accepted a voucher because your British Airways flight was disrupted or cancelled, then you need to use this before the end of September 2025 – otherwise you could miss out.
This means the return date of your trip must be completed before 11:59pm on September 30.
The initial deadline to use up the credit was April 30, 2022 but this has been pushed back four times, but there is no guarantee this will happen again.
MSE urges: “The safest option is to redeem your voucher in good time to ensure you don’t lose out.”
The money saving website explained the vouchers were sent by email, adding: “If you can’t find anything, try entering your email address on BA website.
“If you’ve got any vouchers, you should get an email with the subject ‘Your eVouchers with British Airways’ within a couple of hours.
“This will include your voucher number(s) and how much you’ve got to spend. As a last resort, you can contact BA via its online form or by calling 0344 493 0787 (lines open 6am to 8pm, Monday to Sunday).”
MSE adds: “If your booking is cheaper than the value of your voucher, you’ll be issued a new one to cover the difference.
“However, it’s worth noting that flights or holidays booked with this new voucher will also have to be taken by September 30, 2025.”
According to the airline’s parent company, IAG, there was at least €139 million in unredeemed vouchers as of the end of 2023.
