A 62-year-old motorcyclist died after he collided with the front bumper of a sedan Saturday south of Escondido, according to a California Highway Patrol officer.
The rider was going east on Highland Valley Road near Bandy Canyon Road on a Yamaha FZ09 when around 11:35 a.m. a 20-year-old driver in a Toyota Camry pulled into the road from a driveway, Officer Jared Grieshaber said in a news release.
The motorcyclist tried to swerve to avoid the car but was unsuccessful, according to Grieshaber. The rider struck the front, right side of the car and was ejected.
Paramedics took the motorcycle rider to Palomar Medical Center, where he died. The driver in the Toyota was uninjured.
Grieshaber said alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the collision. The crash is under investigation.
