A motorcyclist was killed early Sunday after he crashed into a vehicle near the Tecate border crossing, authorities said.
The crash occurred shortly after 10:30 a.m. on state Route 94, about a mile west of state Route 188, Cal Fire Capt. Brent Pascua said. The crash site is between Campo and Dulzura.
Medics performed CPR on the rider, a 29-year-old man, but died around 11:45 a.m. before he could be transported. A helicopter had been dispatched to the scene, Pascua said.
The two people in the vehicle that was hit were uninjured. The force of the crash pushed the vehicle onto its side, Pascua said.
Caltrans said lanes in both directions were closed for about 90 minutes after the collision as emergency crews worked on the victim and cleared the lanes. Normal traffic resumed around noon.
No other details, including the name of the man who was killed, were immediately available.
