A 39-year-old motorcyclist was hit by two vehicles and killed on Interstate 805 south of Interstate 5 on Monday night, authorities said.
California Highway Patrol Officer Salvador Castro said one of the drivers didn’t stop after the incident, which was reported about 9 p.m. on southbound I-805.
The rider was stopped in the traffic lanes for an unknown reason when his black Harley-Davidson bike was struck by an SUV, a Honda Crosstour, Castro said.
The impact threw the rider off the motorcycle, and he was struck by a second vehicle. That diver didn’t stop, Castro said.
The rider died at the scene. His name was not released pending notification of his family.
The two right lanes of south I-805 were closed for about three and a half hours during the on-scene investigation.
The Honda driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs. A toxicology report for the motorcyclist was pending, Castro said.
The investigation was ongoing. Anyone with information was asked to call the CHP at (858) 293-6000.
