A mother of two has received significant backlash for endorsing the use of Apple AirTags to track and communicate with young children.
Vada Stevens, from North Carolina, says she has been branded “crazy” since sharing her parenting techniques on TikTok, where she has divided viewers with her unorthodox tracking methods.
In the clip, which has now been viewed more than 1.7 million times, the 24-year-old mother said: “I saw a TikTok about a mom who puts Apple Airtags in bracelets on her kids and I thought it was the coolest thing.
“You can find them on Amazon and you can track them and make a beeping noise and you can train your kids to come they hear the beeping noises.”
The expectant mother, who is currently eight months pregnant, demonstrated how she uses the gadgets on her daughters Stella, four, and Serena, two.

Soon after the video was shared, an Instagram post captioned “Today we are dog training” appeared online.
Many internet users praised the idea but the vast majority were not impressed and accused the mother of treating her children like “animals”.
The mother-of-two has since defended her decision to plant the tags on her children by saying “You can’t be too protective”.
Addressing the backlash, Stevens told Today: “I am extremely paranoid about everything safety. I thought the bracelets were genius.
“My two-year-old doesn’t pay attention and runs off so if she happens to get lost [the AirTag] is a perfect way to find her.It just takes one second to look away from your kid and they’re off in a crowd somewhere.
She also disclosed during the interview that her parenting appears to have become a competition for many.
“In this day and age, you can never be too protective,” she added. “People think I’m a crazy mom – one even said I needed to sign my child up for therapy.
“I’m doing this to prevent my children from ever being taken or lost. I’m going to do my best to know exactly where they are.”
