Eligible new Nationwide customers can get their hands on £175 in free cash, if they act “within 28 days”. The world’s largest building society is offering the bonus to anyone who completes a switch to its FlexPlus, FlexDirect or FlexAccount from a non-Nationwide account within four weeks from requesting the move.
Nationwide said new members will also need to put at least £1,000 into the account, and this doesn’t include transfers from other Nationwide accounts or Visa credits, within 31 days of the switch being applied for – and pay for something at least once using your debit card.
Certain transactions, such as gambling, may not count towards this so you’ll need to check the terms. You will not be eligible for the switching bonus, Nationwide said, if you’ve had a switching bonus from the building society since August 18, 2021, or if you’re switching from one Nationwide account to another.
Once the switch is completed and all other requirements are met, payments should land in accounts within 10 days. The offer payment should appear on bank statements as “Switching Offer”.
Nationwide is not the only bank currently offering a switching bribe. Lloyds will give a huge £200 to eligible customers who switch to any of its Club Lloyds accounts, although these come with a monthly fee, and NatWest is offering £180 to anyone who switches into one of its Reward accounts.
