SOUTH COUNTY —
Local and federal officials are investigating what led to the death of a person who was found near the U.S.-Mexico border wall last week, according to Customs and Border Protection.
The body was found around 10:55 p.m. on Thursday after Border Patrol agents found a body roughly 2.5 miles east of the San Ysidro Port of Entry near Britannia Court, a CBP spokesperson said in a statement.
San Diego police and the Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene along with federal officials.
The person’s identity has not yet been confirmed, officials said.
No other information was available Monday.
