LA MESA —
A pedestrian was fatally struck on Interstate 8 in La Mesa Tuesday morning, according to California Highway Patrol officials.
The collision, reported about 8:30 a.m. near Spring Street, prompted an hour-long traffic alert for commuting motorists.
According to a CHP log of the incident, a passing motorist reportedly saw the pedestrian run onto the freeway shortly before a white Chevrolet pickup struck him. The man died before he could be taken to a hospital.
Officers issued a traffic alert while they investigated the crash, the log read.
