San Diego detectives are investigating after a man was shot in the leg early Saturday at a Lake Murray home after three intruders wearing ski masks broke into the home.
The home invasion was reported around 5 a.m. at the house on Hudson Drive near Bisby Lake Avenue, close to Gage Elementary School. Police said one of the residents struggled with an intruder who was brandishing a firearm.
During the struggle, the gun went off and the 34-year-old victim was shot in his left leg.
The robbers took off, and police said they didn’t know if any property was taken. The man who was shot is a dog breeder, said police Lt. Matt Dobbs, although it is unclear if he was breeding or raising puppies at the home.
“The victim will be re-interviewed later this week after he has recovered from surgery,” Dobbs said in an e-mail. “We do not know if the robbery was related to the dogs, or if they were even discussed.”
