Oceanside police are asking for the public’s help to locate a driver in a hit-and-run collision Sunday night that killed a bicyclist.
The collision happened on state Route 76 and Singh Way around 11:30 p.m.
The victim died while receiving treatment at a hospital, police said. Her name has not been released.
Police believe the vehicle that hit the bicyclist was a silver 2013 or 2015 Kia Optima. The car will have damage to its right front bumper and right headlight and will have missing parts to the engine under cover.
It is believed that the driver of the Kia lives in the neighborhood of the collision, police Officer Jose Gomez said.
Police said there is no surveillance video of the collision, which occurred near the West Coast Tomato Growers’ packing plant.
Police found a crumpled bicycle they believe she had been riding about 2 miles away, near the intersection of SR-76 and College Boulevard.
