San Diego police are looking for a 36-year-old woman in connection with the death of an elderly man after an apparent beating at his home in the 3800 block of Chamoune Avenue in San Diego.
The suspect, Dulce Amaya, is believed to be a transient who frequents the Mid-City area of San Diego, whom the man had befriended over the previous several months, police said in a news release Friday.
Officers and paramedics responding to the man’s phone call a little before 8 p.m. Nov. 17 found Raymond Corn, 75, alone on the floor of his home, the release states. Corn was taken to a local hospital and remained there until he died Nov. 28.
Initially officers were unable to determine whether Corn was the victim of a crime or had fallen in an accident. Because of the unusual circumstances, the San Diego County Coroner’s Office notified police homicide detectives.
Over several weeks investigators examined physical evidence at the scene, checked the area for surveillance video and interviewed potential witnesses. They determined Corn had suffered numerous blunt force injuries not consistent with a fall and that he was the victim of a physical assault, police said.
Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information about the incident is asked to call the police homicide unit at 619-531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
