San Diego police are asking for the public’s help to find a hit-and-run driver who struck a 41-year-old woman in Oak Park on Sunday, police said.
A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered by Crime Stoppers for information leading the arrest of the driver, who was heading south on 54th Street near College Grove Drive. Police said the collision left the victim, who was not in a crosswalk, with “severe injuries.”
The victim suffered fractures to both legs and may have been hit by more than one vehicle. She remained in the street along the center median after the initial collision.
“The collision occurred during darkness so it is difficult to see in the video. Several vehicles passed by her while she was in the roadway, so there is a possibility that she was struck by another vehicle,” police traffic Sgt. Victoria Houseman said in an email.
Video taken in the area shows the suspect’s vehicle is possibly a light-colored small van or SUV, police said, and it may have minor to moderate damage to its driver’s side.
Anyone with information on the suspect or who witnessed the collision is asked to call police at (858) 573-5002 or the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477.
