A man falsely identified himself as a police officer and reportedly tried to lure children to his vehicle in a southeast San Diego park Monday, and police are asking the community to be on the lookout for him.
The incident reportedly happened about 10 a.m. at Keiller Park on Woodrow Avenue in the Jamacha-Lomita neighborhood, San Diego police said. The man approached two kids, 9 and 12, told them he was a police officer and then tried to get them over to his vehicle to take photos of them, police said.
The children were suspicious and instead told an adult, who called police.
The man was last seen heading east on Lisbon Street.
He was described as Hispanic, with a dark complexion, in his late 20s, 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a thin to medium build and shoulder length black hair. He was wearing a blue T-shirt with white horizontal stripes, black pants and white shoes.
A description of his vehicle was not provided.
