Aldi has been crowned the king of Christmas and named Christmas Retailer of the Year for the fourth year in a row at the 2023 edition of the Quality Food Awards (QFAs).
The food giant will also be one of the most affordable options this Christmas as it was recently named the UK’s cheapest supermarket, according to Which? research.
This year’s QFAs saw 18 of Aldi’s festive products secure wins – more than any other retailer – in addition to winning the top accolade.
The QFAs are one of the most prestigious awards in the food and drink industry, seeing an esteemed panel of judges taste thousands of products to find the best of the best.
Four Aldi products received four gold medals at the awards in the Christmas – Sides, Christmas – Cheese, Christmas – Biscuits and Crackers, and Christmas – Pork categories.
Julie Ashfield, managing director of Buying at Aldi UK, commented: “We are thrilled that we’ve been named the Christmas Retailer of the Year yet again.
“The past few Christmases have been tricky for families up and down the country and as the cost-of-living crisis prevails, it’s more important than ever that we provide shoppers with delicious, high-quality food for their festive feasts, without breaking the bank.
“This year, our Christmas range is full of innovative products that will help customers take their celebrations to the next level, and to be recognised as the go-to supermarket for all things Christmas makes us extremely proud.”
The news of success at the QFAs comes as Aldi unveils its latest Christmas offering for 2023. Specially Selected Stuffing Shapes (£3.49, 276g), named as the Best Christmas Side thanks to the delicious combination of savoury pork and sweet apple and honey, is on sale from December 19.
Joining the Specially Selected Stuffing Shapes on sale from December 19 is the fellow gold medal winning Slow Cooked Pork Belly (£12.99, 1.1kg), a juicy, delectable cut with insanely crisp crackling, served with a flavour-enhancing apple and cider jus.
The best festive cheese this year is Aldi’s Specially Selected five-Year Vintage Cheddar (£3.49, 250g), available from December 8. With a rich and crumbly texture from the five-year ageing process, this offering packed with tangy aromas and intense flavour took home the gold medal at the QFAs.
Alongside being crowned the Christmas Retailer of the Year and picking up four gold medals, Aldi picked up a number of other accolades at the coveted awards.
Aldi’s Christmas staples, including the Specially Selected Pigs in Blankets (£2.99, 210g) and Specially Selected Mince Pies (£1.99, 6pk), were both awarded silver medals.
The Specially Selected Bone-In Crackling Gammon Joint (£18.99, 2.5kg), a Boxing Day favourite, also secured a silver medal.
As did the Specially Selected five-year Vintage Cheese Bake (£5.49, 300g) and the decadent Specially Selected Chocolate and Sea Salt Crown Cake (£5.99, 700g).
