A coastal North County woman accused of trying to hire a hitman to kill her husband pleaded guilty this week to solicitation to commit murder.
Tatyana Natasha Remley was immediately sentenced in Vista Superior Court to three years and eight months in state prison, a term reached as part of her agreement to plead guilty.
The 43-year-old also admitted to a charge of carrying a loaded, concealed gun — one not registered to her — in her vehicle, according to the District Attorney’s Office. Prosecutors agreed to drop a second weapon-related charge.
Remley’s change of plea Thursday in front of Judge David Danielson came relatively early in the case, given that her preliminary hearing was still a few weeks away.
Married in 2011, Tatyana and Mark Remley were a wealthy North County couple who tried to produce a multi-million-dollar Del Mar horse show dubbed Valitar in 2012. The production failed after four shows.
Filings from attempts at divorce — he filed for it first, in 2012 — revealed lavish spending and serious marital strife.
Remley came to the attention of law enforcement over the summer. On July 2, fire destroyed the couple’s home on Rancho Reposa, not far from the Del Mar Polo Fields. The next day, deputies got a tip alleging Tatyana Remley was trying to hire someone to kill her husband.
On Aug. 2, according to the Sheriff’s Department, she met with a potential hitman. She brought money, guns and details of how to kill her husband and where to dispose of his body. It was a sting. The would-be hitman was an undercover sheriff’s detective.
Remley was arrested that day. She has remained jailed without bail.
