S Club 7 star Rachel Stevens has dropped out of an upcoming festival appearance after the sudden and shocking tragedy she and the rest of her band endured in recent weeks.
Paul Cattermole, a member of S Club 7, was found dead on April 6, 2023, at his home in Dorset. He was later pronounced dead.
The band member was of course close with every member of the 2000s pop band, but singer Rachel Stevens seems to have taken the loss very hard.
The Mighty Hoopla announced on its Twitter account: “After the recent tragic passing of S Club’s Paul Cattermole, it is with deep sadness that Rachel Stevens has had to withdraw from performing at this year’s Mighty Hoopla.”
The account added: “We support Rachel and send our love to the entire S Club family, and hope to welcome Rachel back another year. More information coming very soon regarding who will be filling in these spots on the Saturday and Sunday.”

The Might Hoopla line-up is full of some massive names, including Years & Years, Loreen – this year’s Eurovision Song Contest Winner – and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
The news of Stevens’ exit from the event comes after Cattermole’s official cause of death was revealed.
A spokeswoman told The Sun: “I can confirm that Mr Cattermole died from natural causes and our investigations have concluded.”
S Club 7 were said to be “devastated” when Cattermole’s death was announced to the public.
“Everyone is in pieces,” a source told The Sun at the time. Hannah and the rest of the gang broke down when told what happened. No one can believe it. There is a real sense of horror and disbelief.”
A statement from Cattermole’s family said: “It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved son and brother Paul Cattermole. Paul was found yesterday, 6th April 2023 at his home in Dorset and was pronounced dead later that afternoon. While the cause of death is currently unknown, Dorset Police has confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances. Paul’s family, friends and fellow members of S Club request privacy at this time.”
