Wildfires have burned thousands of acres in Los Angeles County, destroying homes, churches, schools and other structures in Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Altadena, Pasadena, Sierra Madre and other areas.
In addition to some of San Diego’s hotels providing discounted rates for evacuees, several local organizations are collecting donations or raising funds to help recovery efforts.
This article will be updated as more information becomes available.
Feeding San Diego
San Diego County food relief organization Feeding San Diego is collecting funds and donations for the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.

It will also collect items at the Feeding San Diego location in Sorrento Valley at 9477 Waples St., Suite 100. The collection will be taken from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Institute of Contemporary Art San Diego
Partnering with organizations in LA County such as Superchief Gallery LA and All Power Books, the Institute of Contemporary Art San Diego is collecting goods and opening its garden for evacuees. Requested items include: first aid supplies, batteries, new and unopened socks and undergarments, masks, nonperishable food, water and hygiene products.
The drop-off site at ICA San Diego North will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 1578 S. El Camino Real in Encinitas. Volunteers can also reach out to the organization to help.
The campus garden will be open to evacuees for remote work, WiFi, meditation or other use from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Four of the Rock Church campuses — Point Loma, City Heights, El Cajon, San Marcos — will collect donated items starting Jan. 12 through Jan. 14. The Chula Vista location will collect on Sunday only.
Donations will go by truck to Dream Center LA and its efforts to help residents of Los Angeles, according to a Rock Church announcement. Requested items include: pasta, canned goods, pet food, diapers, feminine hygiene products, instant soup and rice.
