San Diego homicide detectives arrested a 19-year-old Linda Vista man on suspicion of killing his girlfriend early Friday inside a Mission Valley motel, police said.
Detectives arrested Victor Cruz on suspicion of homicide in the death of his 24-year-old girlfriend, San Diego police Lt. Lou Maggi said in a statement. The victim’s identity was not released. Investigators said preliminary evidence indicates the killing was related to domestic violence.
Officers were notified around 1:45 a.m. that there was a woman who was unconscious and not breathing inside a room at the Motel 6 on Hotel Circle North, Maggi said in a statement. Officers arrived at the motel room along with medics, where they determined the woman was dead with “obvious trauma-related injuries.”
Two men were inside the room with her body, including Cruz, who identified himself as the victim’s boyfriend, Maggi said. Police did not identify the second man or describe his relationship to the couple.
Anyone with information about the slaying was asked to call the San Diego police homicide unit at 619-531-2293 or the San Diego County Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at 888-580-8477.
