A fast-moving fire destroyed a mobile home and damaged three others in Oceanside Saturday, displacing four people and prompting neighboring residents to evacuate.
The fire was reported about 7:15 a.m. at a residence on Parkwood Lane in the Cavalier Mobile Home Park, according to the Oceanside Fire Department.
Firefighters arrived and found the home already engulfed and the flames were spreading to a nearby residence, officials said. The fire was upgraded to a second-alarm, and crews moved quickly to ensure residents and pets had evacuated.
Although no one was injured, the residence where the fire started was completely destroyed, and a nearby home was seriously damaged. Two other homes suffered minor damage, the department said. It took about an hour to put out the blaze.
A total of four adults, one dog and one cat were displaced. The fire department was working with the property manager of the mobile home park and the Red Cross to ensure that all displaced occupants were provided shelter.
A total of 42 personnel were assigned to the fires, including eight engines, three ladder truck engines and two ambulances. Several agencies assisted with the blaze.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
