A pedestrian was struck and killed on a San Marcos road Thursday evening, marking the second fatal collision in a day for the city, according to sheriff’s officials.
The crash was reported around 5:45 p.m. on West Mission Road near North Las Posas Road, said Lt. John Spach said.
The driver stayed on the scene and spoke with investigators. The driver is not suspected of being under the influence.
The incident is under investigation.
The first crash occurred around 4:30 a.m. on East Mission Road, less than 3 miles from the second fatality. The 59-year-old man was struck as he was in a crosswalk and died at the scene.
The driver stayed at the scene and he was not believed to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
