A woman found in the brush along a Santee creek after torrential rains remains unidentified, and the Medical Examiner’s Office on released a sketch of her Friday in hopes of learning her name.
She was found Jan. 22, when a powerful storm slammed the region. County officials have said they believe her death could be storm-related but have stopped short of saying whether she was swept up in swift water or flooding.
A second person was also found in Santee following the flooding, and his death is also believe to be storm-related. He was identified as Manuel Andres Perez, 48. The county has not said precisely where he was found. The investigation remains underway, and his cause of death is pending.
The woman who the Medical Examiner’s Office is seeking to identify was found on the southern border of Forester Creek.
Officials said she is either White or Latina and appears to be between 45 and 55 years old. She has brown eyes and brunette hair approximately 20 inches in length. She was about 5 feet 5 inches tall, and weighed 229 pounds.
She had no clothing but wore a bracelet engraved with “Mama B” on the front and “4/21/2006” on the back.
She also had a tattoo on her right leg — a dolphin with wings, and hearts.
Investigators could not identify her by her fingerprints.
Anyone who might recognize the woman was asked to contact the Medical Examiner’s Investigations Unit at (858) 694-2905. The case number is 2024-00240.
