The Duchess of Edinburgh attended a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace alongisde her husband and the Prince and Princess of Wales.
For the occasion, she wore a blue lace dress from Suzannah London and is the Isla Guipure Lace Dress in Blue.
Sophie’s dress is in a beautiful cornflower blue and is not new in her wardrobe, in fact, she debuted it last summer for Royal Ascot.
It is unusual that she chose this dress considering how close in colour it is to Kates – it is merely a few shades darker than the Princess’ – and according to Meghan Markle in her Netflix docuseries, female royals aren’t supposed to wear the same colours for public engagements.

Nevertheless, Sophie’s dress is made from 100 percent cotton lace with a 100 percent silk lining, and is still available to buy today for £1,290.
The product descriotion for the dress reads: “Beautiful blue Italian cotton Guipure lace shirt dress with separate bias cut silk inner slip dress and a detachable lace belt.
“A gathered frill cuts diagonally through the bodice and is echoed in the shirred cuffs of the 3/4 length sleeves.
“The dress can be styled beautifully with elegant millinery for race meet or wedding.”
Today, Sophie had styled it almost the same as when she wore it last year, with the same blue hat and clutch bag.
Her hat is bespoke Jane Taylor and her bag is from one of her favourite brands, Sophie Hasburg and is the Ginny Clutch in blue.
The Duchess had, however, chosen nude heels instead of blue for today’s outfit re-wear.
Her shoes are from Prada and are the Natural Classic Pumps. She has worn these shoes on 34 occasions before today, having first debuted them in 2017.
In terms of jewellery, the Duchess chose her Halcyon Days Maya Torque Bracelets in diamond and pearl.
Made of exquisite 18-karat gold plating, the twisted design is unified with two polished diamonds or pearls and lacquered accents.
The braclets retail for £150 each and are a favourite with the Duchess.
For earrings, Sophie chose blue flower studs, which have never been identified.
Royal fans took to Twitter to comments on Sophie’s outfit, with many not favouring the style of the dress. One said: “I’m don’t like the style of the dress. I love the color.”
“Her outfit has a very ‘80s feel to it; which is on trend. It’s a bold choice, but she is definitely pulling it off,” a second wrote.
Someone else joked: “The 80s called and they want their dress back! Actually, I love everything about this dress except the ruffles.”
“Very pretty. Love the complimentary blue dresses,” one Tweet read.
