A shooting in the backyard of a Spring Valley home left five adults with gunshot wounds Saturday night, a sheriff’s official said.
The incident, which may have happened at a birthday party, was reported about 8 p.m. at a home on Ildica Street near Berkview Lane, east of state Route 125, sheriff’s Lt. Mike Krugh said.
The injured adults were taken to hospitals in unknown conditions, but Krugh confirmed the department’s homicide team — which investigates fatal shootings — had not been sent to the location.
Two children who were not shot were also taken to hospitals with minor burns to their hands, officials said. They may have been injured while playing with fireworks.
The shooter had not been caught as of 10:15 p.m. A suspect description was not immediately available.
