Teens interested in exploring careers in nature and conservation can kick start their curiosity through the Eco Ambassador program at Mission Trails Regional Park in San Diego.
Applications are now being accepted to fill a cohort of 20 San Diego County high school students, who will use the park as a “living laboratory,” according to Jennifer Morrissey, executive director of the Mission Trails Regional Park Foundation.
The sessions will be based at the park’s visitor center from noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays. Teens will learn about local ecosystems, how to monitor wildlife and how to build community around environmental stewardship. Teens will be introduced to various fields of study and careers related to nature and conservation, and there will be opportunities to collaborate on projects with their peers.
Participants will earn an Eco Ambassador certificate at the conclusion of the program.
Applications for the Winter 2024 session are due by Jan. 2. The session runs from Jan. 28 to March 17.
