Yes, it’s true: The Darkness are back, and with a vengeance. The Justin Hawkins-fronted band have only just played London’s massive BST Hyde Park (supporting Guns N Roses), but they’re already looking forward to the end of the year when they return to British stages around the country.
These nine shows are being held by The Darkness to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the band’s debut studio album, Permission To Land. This Permission To Land 20 Tour will kick off in Belfast before moving through England and Scotland and ending in Wolverhampton.
During this adventurous tour, the band have confirmed they’ll be playing “every song” from the record as well as their other greatest hits.
Frontman Justin said: “We, The Darkness, are delighted to announce that we’ll be hitting the road in the UK once again. To commemorate the 20th anniversary of Permission to Land, our set will include every song from our debut album faithfully reproduced (with additional clam notes and meanderings) in the order in which they appear on the record. We’ll also play all of your favourite Darkness songs from the rest of our illustrious and tipsy turvy career.” (sic)
He confidently added: “It will be the best show you’ll see this year. I should know, I’m the singer and also a YouTube music expert.”
The band are also due to release a “very special expanded Permission To Land Deluxe Album” later this year via Warner Music. Further details are expected to follow “very soon”.
Tickets for this exceptional tour come out later this week, but before that, there’ll be a few presale events to help the most eager fans along the way.
