A woman was arrested on suspicion of negligent discharge of a firearm and assault with a deadly weapon Monday night after she allegedly shot a man in the jaw by accident inside a North County home, a sheriff’s lieutenant said.
The shooting was reported around 10:55 p.m. at a home on Del Cielo Este in Bonsall. When deputies arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the face, said sheriff’s Lt. Colin Hebeler.
Hebeler said the couple was “playing around with a firearm” when the shooting occurred.
“It seems like it was a new firearm and they were looking at it, checking it out, and apparently she didn’t have good trigger discipline or something,” he said.
The man was transported to a hospital, where he was reported in stable condition. No other information about the incident was immediately available.
