Motorcyclist dies after crash into car in East County

A motorcyclist died Monday after crashing into a car in the East County community of Crest, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The 53-year-old El Cajon resident was riding a Yamaha motorcycle east on La Cresta Road, west of Coyote Ridge Lane, about 5:10 p.m. when he crashed into a Kia Forte that had turned left from a driveway in front of him, said CHP Officer Jared Grieshaber.

The driver, a 37-year-old El Cajon woman, told officers she had not seen the approaching bike when she made the turn, Grieshaber said.

The rider was ejected and died at a hospital. His name has not been released pending notification of family.

The driver was also hospitalized with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

Drugs and alcohol were not believed to be a factor in the crash, authorities said.
